Abstract
The article is concerned with artistic compositional and lingual means of creating the image of the writer whose ideological and aesthetic views are manifested in the character portrayal. The subject of the study is the image of the professor Henry Higgins in Bernard Shaw’s «Pygmalion». As the analysis of the dramatic text shows, the image of the character is a vivid reflection of the author’s inner self while the study of explicit and implicit devices and means gives a possibility to understand the author’s attitude towards his personage.
