Аннотация
Статья посвящена творчеству британского историка Стивена Эллиса. В статье анализируется место англо-шотландского пограничья в политической жизни тюдоровской Англии. По мнению историка, пограничье стало жертвой политики централизации и цивилизаторских устремлений Тюдоров. Аккультурация пограничных земель, их «приобщение к цивилизации» привели к упадку в политическом плане
