The novelty of this study lies in the analysis of assessments of key actors and assessments of the situation in the country as well as a possible outcome of the conflict which were made by American journalists. The authors provide the results of the analysis of Foreign Affairs articles for the formation of Mao Zedong image in connection with the events of that time. The authors reviewed the main arguments of the American press, which revealed that the problem of the civil war was one of the components of the complex problem of planning a post-war reconstruction of the world. The United States was primarily interested in changes in the balance of power in the Far East, tried to assess the possible outcomes of the conflict and how they would affect the United States itself (mainly in the economic sphere). But as the victory of the Chinese Communist Party, headed by Mao Zedong, approached the Kuomintang support from American experts weakened. The study of this information phenomenon will allow researchers to understand what impact on Sino-American relations was made by an influential American analytical magazine through the formation of ideas about China, the Chinese people and their political elites.</p>
Изучение данного информационного феномена позволит исследователям понять, какое воздействие на китайско-американские отношения было оказано американским влиятельным аналитическим журналом через формирование представлений о Китае, китайском народе и его политических элитах.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Chinese Civil War</kwd><kwd>Kuomintang</kwd><kwd>Chiang Kai-shek</kwd><kwd>Mao Zedong</kwd><kwd>American periodical press</kwd><kwd>«Foreign Affairs»</kwd><kwd>Sino-US relations</kwd><kwd>US press</kwd><kwd>US foreign policy</kwd><kwd>Chinese Communist party</kwd><kwd>image of China</kwd><kwd>public opinion</kwd><kwd>American expert community</kwd><kwd>Japan-China war</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>гражданская война в Китае</kwd><kwd>Гоминьдан</kwd><kwd>Чан Кайши</kwd><kwd>Мао Цзэдун</kwd><kwd>американская периодика</kwd><kwd>«Foreign Affairs»</kwd><kwd>китайско-американские отношения</kwd><kwd>пресса США</kwd><kwd>внешняя политика США</kwd><kwd>Коммунистическая партия Китая</kwd><kwd>образ Китая</kwd><kwd>общественное мнение</kwd><kwd>американское экспертное сообщество</kwd><kwd>японо-китайская война</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The study was carried out with the financial support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research within the framework of scientific project No. 20-39-70003</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Исследование выполнено при финансовой поддержке РФФИ в рамках научного проекта № 20-39-70003</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Кузнецов Д.В.
